Maura McGuigan is managing director, Credit Rating Criteria, Research and Analytics at AM Best. Maura’s teams are responsible for the development, testing and review of AM Best’s credit rating methodology and criteria, models and tools, and economic and country risk. She is also the chair of the Credit Rating Policy Committee.

Prior to joining AM Best in 2016, Maura spent more than 25 years in a variety of roles at various credit rating agencies, including most recently as a senior director managing FitchRating’s Public Finance Housing Group. Maura was also a vice president/senior credit officer covering the Public Finance Housing sector at Moody’s Investors Service for 13 years. In these roles, Maura was responsible for rating activity and research on mortgage-backed securities, as well as the development of housing-related rating criteria. She also served as rating committee chair for various sectors within the public finance industry.

Maura has a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Delaware.
