The Bermuda Captive Conference was created in 2004 to help promote, support and grow the island’s world-leading captive insurance industry sector. The conference is Bermuda’s largest and longest-running industry event, typically held every June, attracting more than 800 delegates, half from overseas.
Attendees include captive insurance owners, risk managers, sponsors, vendors, plus legal, audit, banking and support services from Bermuda, North America, Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the United Kingdom.
With over 600+ active captive licences on its register, supporting primarily Fortune 500 corporations, and generating about $31 billion in annual gross written premiums.
The Bermuda Captive Network is a membership-focused organisation providing education, business development and effective representation for Bermuda’s captive and managed insurance industry. Representing all aspects and demographics of the Bermuda captive industry, the Network reflects the innovation, energy and collaborative approach of this growing market, while continuing to promote Bermuda as a world-class domicile in the global risk market.
The Network’s strategic priorities focus on growing its international presence, delivering an expansion of resources, adding value to members and other stakeholders through events, forums, consultation, data and analytics, as well as promoting the development of a more diversified membership. The Network will also offer enhanced advocacy, leading and evaluating changes in Bermuda’s legislative and policy landscape with one voice, to ensure the interests of Bermuda and its stakeholders are represented.
Thomas McMahon

Tom holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from University College, Galway, Ireland and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He currently serves as Executive Vice President of Davies Captive Management in Bermuda.
Prior to entering the captive management industry in 1994, Tom spent 10 years in the audit profession, both in Ireland and Bermuda. Since 1994, Tom has been actively involved in the establishment and management of single parent and group captives, segregated account companies and Class 3A commercial reinsurance companies.
Tom is a past President of the Bermuda Insurance Management Association (“BIMA”). BIMA is an association of professional insurance management companies in Bermuda with its principal role as liaison with the Bermuda Monetary Authority and other bodies on matters affecting the captive insurance industry. He is also a past Chairman of the Bermuda Captive Conference. He is a member of the Insurance Advisory Council, a statutory body appointed by the Minister of Finance whose role is to advise the Ministry of Finance on matters relating to the Bermuda insurance market.
