Session: Exploring the Ecosystem of Captive Operations

John is responsible for several key finance areas within Erickson Living and all the communities that Erickson Living manages. Erickson Living is a large retirement community developer, owner, and manager in the US. During this time, he has redesigned or built all areas’ primary function and focus, led successful efforts to establish Erickson Living’s credit facilities, improved visibility and reporting for cash activity and treasury services within the communities and to the boards, and assisted in the effort to split out risk management from insurance procurement to ensure better results for resident and workplace safety. John spent the prior 10 years as Chief Accounting Officer of Allegis Group, Inc., the largest provider of staffing in the United States, where he was responsible for all financial reporting, tax, insurance and risk management for Allegis Group and advised on financings and mergers and acquisitions, including the Erickson transaction and many others involving Redwood Holdings LLC.  Prior to joining Allegis Group, Mr. Hall was in public accounting for 15 years, leaving a partnership position with a national firm to join Allegis Group in 1999.

John is a director for Atlantic Indemnity, whose primary business is the reinsurance for Allegis Group and its related and affiliated businesses, specifically within worker’s compensation risks.  He is the primary point of contact for all business and finance functions, including maintaining and growing relationships with US primary insurers, brokers and advisors, and captive managers, and has been acting in this capacity since joining Allegis Group.

Mr. Hall graduated from Loyola College in Maryland in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting.  He received his CPA certificate in 1985. Mr. Hall also holds a master’s degree in business administration, with a concentration on income tax, from the University of Baltimore, which he received in 1992.
