Relevant Experience/Specialization

Michael has over 13 years’ experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry, 11 of which have been in the captive and insurance management sector. He was originally based in Dublin, Ireland but relocated to Bermuda in 2020.

Michael started his career in insurance with Aviva Ireland as a financial controller. He joined Marsh Management Services (Dublin) Limited in 2012 and served as a captive Account Manager with Marsh. During his time in Dublin he became closely involved with the extensive compliance and regulatory needs of the Central Bank of Ireland, including the European Solvency II framework. As he progressed within Marsh, he also assumed in a Client Executive role as well as Compliance Officer for a number of large Dublin captives.

Upon moving to Bermuda in 2020 Michael was a Client Executive and Senior Account Manager and as such was a team leader within Marsh Bermuda. He was also a member of the local senior management team. During this time Michael increased his exposure and expertise relating to captive program deisign & implementation and has also assumed greater management responsibility.

Michael’s experience is broad making him the ideal person to lead our client service offering. He has a strong technical background, together with significant exposure and involvement in the governance and operations of complex insurance vehicles – both captive and commercial.

Role at Willis Towers Watson

Michael was appointed Head of Client Services of the Bermuda insurance management business in October 2022. In this role Michael is responsible for managing our team of accounting professionals as they fulfil their Account Executive roles. He is also a member of our local ExCo.

Education and Credentials

Michael started his career at the Bank of Ireland in 2006 and since then has completed his qualification as a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants. He is also qualified through the Association of Compliance Officers in Ireland.
