Session: Maximising Your Captive’s Value Through Strategic Planning

Michael (Mike) Kane joined Hartford Healthcare as the Director of Insurance and Risk Financing in March, 2017.  Mike and his team manage all property & casualty insurance needs of Hartford Healthcare including managing Hartford Healthcare’s Bermuda-domiciled captive insurance company which insures the professional liability risks for its eight hospitals and over 2000 employed and independent healthcare providers across Connecticut.  Prior to joining Hartford Healthcare, Mike spent nearly 35 years at Aetna, most of which was in service to their risk management department including leading the formation and management of their two captive insurance companies domiciled in Bermuda and Connecticut.  Mike also spent over ten years working at various levels within Aetna’s claims operation.  Mike graduated from Fairfield University with a BS in Mathematics and earned an MBA from the University of Hartford.  He is a member of the Medical Professional Liability Association also holds an Associate in Risk Management designation.
